Galley Hall Pub Rebuilt After Fire
A Hoddesdon pub almost burned down after a fire destroyed much of its outdoor area. Regulars and neighbours rebuilt it and helped get the pub back on its feet.

What happened
A brief look at how Newtons supported the community work described below.
A Hoddesdon pub almost burned down by a fire that destroyed much of its outdoor area has been rebuilt by loyal regulars.
The Galley Hall pub in Hailey Lane was saved from disaster by neighbour Angela Spencer, who was woken up by a car explosion at 5.30am on June 9 and saw flames and plumes of black smoke.
Reportedly started by a careless cigarette smouldering from the night before, the fire tore through the wooden decking area and reduced the barbecue hut to ashes.
With help from the local community, the pub’s outdoor space has been rebuilt so regulars can return to the place that brings them together.
